Every year on National Dog Day, August 26, Dogs for Better Lives celebrates the incredible ways dogs make our lives safer, brighter, calmer, and more connected. This year, our Day of Pawsitivity campaign turns that celebration into action, supporting the lifelong commitment we make to the Service Dog Teams we serve.
The goal for this year’s campaign is to raise $20,000 to support the next 40 follow-up visits for DBL Service Dog Teams. And thanks to generous donors, every gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000.

The Commitment Doesn’t End at Placement

When a Service Dog is placed, a new partnership begins—but Dogs for Better Lives’ commitment doesn’t end there. Ongoing follow-up visits help ensure that each dog and client continues to thrive together through the changes, challenges, and milestones of everyday life.
During these visits, DBL trainers reconnect with clients and their dogs to:
- Refresh or reinforce important skills
- Address new questions or challenges
- Adjust training as a client’s circumstances change
- Build confidence in new environments and routines
- Celebrate the progress of each Service Dog Team
These visits are one of the ways DBL’s lifetime commitment becomes real: a trainer at the door, a skill refreshed, a question answered, or a client reminded that they are never alone in their partnership with their Service Dog.

Dogs for Better Lives Service Dogs are placed with our clients at zero cost to them, and they receive support from our team for years to come. Donor support helps make that lifetime support possible.

Thanks to generous donors, the first $10,000 raised on August 26th will be matched dollar-for-dollar. That means every gift made during the campaign can go twice as far toward helping DBL provide follow-up support to Service Dog Teams.
