CENTRAL POINT, OR; For many nonprofit organizations, nearly a third (31%) of their annual giving occurs in the month of December.(1) Dogs for Better Lives (DBL) is no different, though closer to 40% of our donations are received during the last month of the year.
During the month of November, Swedish Engineering West in Eugene, OR was promoting a drawing at their auto shop for all customers to participate in. The winning customer would win $250 for themselves and $250 for the nonprofit charity of their choice. When longtime DBL donor Sandra found out that she was the December 8th winner and would decide which worthy nonprofit to award, it was a non-decision for her – Dogs for Better Lives.
“I was surprised, then ecstatic to be chosen as the winner, and with my love of dogs and admiration for everything Dogs for Better Lives (formerly Dogs for the Deaf) does to help better people’s lives, it was an instant decision,” stated donor Sandra.
Swedish Engineering West prides itself on great customer service and conscientious staff that take pride in their work and treat each vehicle that comes in, as if it was their own. Similar to Swedish Engineering West, Dogs for Better Lives shares a similar vision, with a lifelong commitment to every dog rescued and trained, as well a sincere long-term investment in each client served.

DBL is currently looking to place its Program and Autism Assistance Dogs in the Eugene area with qualifying clients. Program Assistance Dogs go to work with and assist full-time professionals such as physicians, teachers, counselors and other licensed therapists in the treatment of and work with their clients and students with special needs.
Autism Assistance Dogs are placed with a qualifying parent(s) who has a child (aged 4-11 yrs) on the autism spectrum. Autism Assistance Dogs are trained to apply deep pressure, act as an anchor to reduce or slow a child’s ability to bolt, and provide companionship solely dedicated to the child.
