CENTRAL POINT, OR – Dogs for Better Lives (DBL) is pleased to announce the receipt of a significant donation in support of veterinary services from Boehringer Ingelheim USA and WoofTrax through their partnership initiative, Step up for Shelter Dogs.

In 2023, Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA Inc. and WoofTrax partnered up for 2023 STEP UP FOR SHELTERS®, a dog walking challenge to help shelter dogs in need. This initiative allowed participants to contribute to animal shelter organizations by simply walking their dogs using the WoofTrax app. The collaboration included both monetary donations and donated products to support shelters across the U.S. All donations were provided by the animal health business of Boehringer Ingelheim, the maker of some of the most widely used and well-respected vaccines, parasite control products and therapeutics for pets.

DBL, a national nonprofit dedicated to training shelter and purpose-bred dogs for various Service Dog programs, received nearly $10,000 in in-kind product donations as a result of this collaboration. The support from Boehringer Ingelheim and WoofTrax will greatly aid DBL in its mission to enhance the lives of our shelter dogs in our Service Dog programs, as well as their future owners.

“At Boehringer Ingelheim, we care about the work that Service Dog nonprofits are doing with animal shelters, particularly the work that Dogs for Better Lives is collaborating on with Operation Kindness in Texas, to train and place shelter dogs as Service Dogs. In 2023 we expanded the relationship with WoofTrax to include product donations,” said Dr. Julie Ryan-Johnson, Associate Director of Shelters at Boehringer Ingelheim.

DBL is also appreciative of its ongoing partnership with WoofTrax that dates back to 2018. Doug Hexter is also a trustee serving on the nonprofit’s national board of directors.

“We are thrilled to expand our relationship with Boehringer Ingelheim and Dogs for Better Lives,” said WoofTrax CEO Doug Hexter. “Our shared passion for supporting shelter animals and promoting healthy habits will make a significant impact on the lives of animals in shelters, improving their overall wellbeing, and supporting those that go on to be certified Service Dogs.”

In early 2024 Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA Inc. renewed their national partnership and support of DBL. Dogs for Better Lives is excited to be partnering again with the leader in animal health innovation, Boehringer Ingelheim, including their sponsorship towards the their signature event, Bone AppeTREAT, a live virtual event on May 18, 2024, along with generous product support towards the nonprofit’s veterinarian service needs.

“We’re extremely appreciative of the continued and significant support from both Boehringer Ingelheim and WoofTrax,” stated Dogs for Better Lives CEO Bryan Williams. “And so touched that walkers in the Step up for Shelter Dogs Challenge nominated DBL for this generous donation. Ultimately, it means we’ll be able to continue to expand our training of shelter dogs, serving more clients and transforming lives.”
